Summary: This panel will address breaking global developments related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), recent German patent law reforms, and the Unified Patent Court (UPC). On AI, the panel will address inventorship issues and the DABUS decisions in the US, Europe, Australia and South Africa. The panel will address patentability standards for AI-implemented inventions. On the German patent law reforms, the panel will discuss the potential impact of the reforms on the "injunction gap" and compare the codified "proportionality test" to injunction standards in other leading jurisdictions around the world. On the UPC, the panel will discuss the recent ratifications by Germany and Slovenia and review the next steps towards implementation, as well as how the UPC may be used in the context of global patent litigation.
